Jordan Green grabbed a late winner as Banbury United shocked Oxford City 2-1 in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup quarter-final at Spencer Stadium last night.

Banbury, bottom of the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division, fell behind after just two minutes when new City signing Paulo Mendez fired home from a corner on his debut.

The Vanarama Conference North visitors went close to doubling their advantage when Tom Winters shot wide.

Banbury’s first threat came when Thomas Amegnaglo was just off target.

But they were level in the 31st minute with the unmarked Nathaniel Lewars heading in from five yards.

Adrian Santiago headed wide for City after the break, and top scorer Adi Yussuf had a shot tipped over the bar by Leigh Bedwell shortly after coming on as a substitute.

Darius Browne caused City all sorts of problems, though, and after Carl Tappin headed just wide, Green fired home Banbury’s winner a minute from time.
