Didcot Town joint manager Ian Concannon felt his side were rewarded for their patience in their win over Wantage Town, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

Frustration mounted as the hosts struggled to break through a solid Wantage defence, but Concannon was always confident the opening would appear.

He said: “We knew that they’d come here and try and upset us and put us out of our rhythm, and to be fair to them, they did that.

“But we kept going, we told them to be patient at half-time and to get the goal was really pleasing.

“It’s a local derby at home and in that situation league position trends to go out of the window.

“It’s just important that we carry on our momentum and it was a good three points for us.”

The victory extended Didcot’s unbeaten run to ten matches and confidence is high.

“It’s a good place to be at the moment,” added Concannon.

“When you’re winning games you’ve got a happy dressing room and we’re happy we got the three points.”

Meanwhile, Wantage boss Daniel Barry feels his side can match anyone ithe division, despite their 1-0 defeat at Didcot.
The gulf in class between Wantage and their hosts looked considerably smaller than the league table suggests, but Barry was disappointed their considerable efforts came to nothing.
“In the last three games we have matched the opposition,” he said.
“But it’s disappointing, we can’t keep saying nearly, maybe, ifs and buts, we need to take chances.
“The disappointing thing is in the last two games we’ve gifted sides goals from individual errors and we need to cut that out.”
Didcot were rarely troubled by a Wantage forward line which has scored just once in the previous six games.
However, Barry insisted his side do not lack creativity.
He said: “I think against teams around us (in the table) we can be more creative and push on.
“We’ve got the talent, we just need to be more confident.”
