JOSH Dutton-Black’s goal 11 min-utes from time gave Didcot Town a superb 2-1 victory over Merthyr Town in last night’s third qualifying round replay.

The hard-fought win secures the Railwaymen a trip to Vanamara Conference side Forest Green Rovers in the first round on Saturday, December 13.

After the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West teams played out a thrilling 3-3 in Saturday’s initial tie – Merthyr equalising with the last kick of the game – it took just 88 seconds for the drama to start at Loop Meadow Stadium last night.

Pablo Haysham stunned the visitors, firing Didcot in front with barely a minute on the clock.

Neither side was able to make a further breakthrough in the first half, but midway through the second period, Merthyr drew level when Jarrad Wilson’s powerful header beat James Foster.

But Didcot battled on bravely and Dutton-Black stunned the visitors with 11 minutes to go to book a trip to Forest Green Rovers.

  •  BANBURY United ran riot in their Buckingham Charity Cup quarter-final tie at home to Wolverton Town last night, winning 11-1.

Ben Whitehead hit a hat-trick as Paul Davis’s side comfortably booked their place in the semi-final with an impressive display.
