Evesham Utd 2

(Williams 40, Sysum 90+2)

Banbury Utd 2

(Brown 58, Talabi 71)

Banbury United were denied victory in the FA Trophy first qualifying round by Matt Sysum’s stoppage-time equaliser at Southern League Division 1 South & West side Evesham United.

Banbury had enjoyed a let-off in the 29th minute when Leigh Bedwell saved Ashley Edenborough’s penalty.

However, the visitors fell behind in the 40th minute when Harry Williams netted.

Darius Browne levelled with a far-post header.

Evesham had Edenborough sent off in the 66th for a poor tackle on David Lynn.

And Banbury went in front through Adeyinka Talabi, but they couldn’t hang on and the sides will replay tomorrow.

Banbury Utd: Bedwell, Cray, Lynn (Mzungwana 76), Hartigan (Talabi 46), White, Westbrook, Hawtin, Martin, Walcott, Howards, Browne (Green 80). Subs not used: Tappin, Jervis.

Attendance: 268.

SLOUGH Town have written to the Southern League asking to be awarded the three points for last week’s Premier Division game at Banbury, which was abandoned after the referee was struck by a bottle.
