Oxford City manager Mike Ford says on-loan striker Kayden Jackson has the chance to establish himself as a top footballer after parent club Swindon Town extended his spell until the end of the season.

Jackson, who is 20 next month, has scored five goals in only 11 appearances since arriving on loan at the Skrill North in October and Ford is delighted.

“Swindon have agreed to give us Kayden until the end of the season,” said Ford.

“I like him – he has fantastic pace. With him, (Mark) Bell and (Jamie) Cook up front, we look a real threat.

“And then we have Mike Symons, who can do the other bits.

“Kayden’s one of those players you have to stay on top of. Sometimes he gets a bit frustrated and makes silly decisions.

“He’s got three months – 20 games – and if he does it right then he can earn himself a new contract at Swindon or at another club.

“So he’s got everything to prove.”

Meanwhile, Ford, whose side are in the bottom three, rates the chances of tomorrow’s match at Workington going ahead as 50-50, though the Cumbrian club’s general manager Alec Graham is optimistic.

Graham said: “Our groundsman is confident the pitch will be playable, but it’s in the lap of the gods.” Oxford City Nomads’ striker Louis Joyce, and Dan West, from the development side, have been added to the squad.

City will be without keeper Victor Francoz (calf injury), while Julian Serrano has returned to Spain.

Frontman Tom Winters faces a fitness test on a tight hamstring.

Oxford City (v Workington, away): from Scott, Benjamin, Stonehouse, Pook, Henderson, Willmott, Bell, Pond, Jackson, Cook, Winters, Malone, McEachran, Symons, Learoyd, Ballard, Joyce, West.
