UPPER THAMES VALLEY SUNDAY LEAGUE

A CONTROVERSIAL opening goal helped Blacks Head Bletchingdon reach the final of the Ridgeway Cup with a 3-2 victory over Oxford FC, writes TIM SIRET.

Andy Wheeler’s long throw found its way into the net, thanks to the hand of goalkeeper Tsepo Mokhethi.

Oxford disputed the keeper got a touch, but the referee, after consulting with his linesman, awarded the goal.

Andy White headed home a pinpoint Chris Philpott cross to double the lead, before Adam Wells finished off from just inside the area.

Oxford’s Ahmed Al-Adidi then blasted a penalty over the bar.

And although Fama Mara and Lamine Sow set up an exciting finish, Oxford could not find an equaliser.

Matty Leach’s winner clinched a 2-1 victory for Cholsey United against Yellow Eagles.

Eagles went close through Ryan Simpson and took the lead when Ben Crawford fired home from Mark Willmot’s long pass.

Cholsey equalised through Alejandro Rodriguez, before Leach won it.

In league action, Kings Arms Wheatley blew away Barton United with a 4-0 a defeat that effectively ends the latter’s Premier Division title hopes.

A brace from Luke Cuff and goals from Neil Lockhart and James Luckett were enough for Wheatley to take over at the top.

Abingdon Knights secured promotion from Division 3B with a 2-1 victory over battling Milton Midgets.

Luke French fired Knights ahead, only for Josh Gilsenan to equalise.

However, Luke French crossed for Ryan Leahy to head the winner and start the promotion party.
