AFC Hinksey felt aggrieved to have suffered a 2-1 defeat against early Autotype Upper Thames Valley Premier Division pacesetters Barton United.

After a goalless first half, Hinksey went ahead when Marlon James chipped Barton keeper Chris Flowers after the defence failed to clear.

Jelroy Constant then just failed to double the advantage when he fired straight at Flowers.

Both defences were dominant, but Barton drew level when Ryan Curtin fired in a free-kick into the bottom corner of the net, from the edge of the box.

Curtin had a hand in the equaliser when his pass was adjudged to have struck a Hinksey defender and referee Pete Forrester pointed to the spot.

With just ten minutes to go, Aaron Armstrong made no mistake from the resulting kick, though Hinksey’s debutant keeper Karl Adams nearly saved it.

Hinksey then had a goal ruled out after a Christian Perkins strike was ruled out with a free-kick already awarded.

To make matters worse, Hinksey felt that they should have had a penalty themselves as Anaclet Odhiambo went sprawling in the box late on, but their appeals were waved away.

Oxford Yellows and Dorchester United shared the spoils in another hard-fought encounter.

Tom Gaughan smashed home a first-half strike to put the Yellows ahead.

Dorchester controlled much of the second period and deservedly equalised through Chris Murphy to leave the final score at 1-1.

Rover Cowley seem a team to watch after thrashing AFC Woodfarm, who seem to be finding the step up a little difficult.

The Bloomfield brothers, Carl and Craig were the chief destroyers, smashing four goals apiece in a 13-0 win.

Stephen Walsh hit a brace, with Luke Bremner, Steve Walsh and Cain Wheal also finding the net.

In Division 1, Donnington had three men sent off – but still remain top of the table after drawing 2-2 with Kidlington Royals.

Craig Gilboy picked up two yellow cards, with Luke Watts and Tyrone Willett both seeing red after the final whistle for foul and abusive language.

Ben Willoughby scored two penalties as Kidlington made the most of their numerical advantage.

Lee Spence, who has already scored 12 goals this season, was kept quiet as Aaron Williams hit back for the leaders with a spot-kick of his own.

Nick Andrews was the other scorer, but it was Donnington’s discipline – or lack of it – that was the main talking point afterwards.

John Mills smashed a four-timer as Kennington United thrashed Standlake Garage 12-0.

Declan Hartigan cracked a treble, with Ryan Johnson (2), Sam Childs, Kenny Lewis and Alex Crossan completing the rout as Standlake, relegated from the top flight, got their season off to a torrid start.
