CHRIS Maguire has become Oxford United’s second loan signing of deadline day.
The forward joins from Rotherham United until mid-January to provide cover for Ryan Taylor, who is expected to be out for a month.
The frontman’s paperwork was completed before the 5pm loan deadline, joining fellow new signing Jordan Evans in the squad for Saturday’s visit to Hartlepool United.
Maguire, 26, joined the Millers in the summer and has made 15 appearances without scoring this season, the majority of which are from the bench.
He started at Aberdeen and has two senior caps for Scotland.
U's head coach Michael Appleton said: “I’ve worked with him before (at Portsmout) and know he will fit in here.
"He is a full international, he has played at a higher level, and he has a fantastic winning mentality."
"He will want to impress here and can play in a number of roles across the front line.
“We are waiting for confirmation on Ryan Taylor but it looks like he will be out of action for a month or so with the groin injury he picked up on Tuesday against Newport, but we have acted quickly to bring Chris in to the squad and he will be an excellent addition.”
