David Murphy fired home a hat-trick to help Berinsfield to an emphatic 5-0 victory over Saxton Rovers in the North Berks Cup final at Abingdon United, writes PHIL ANNETS.
With the Division 1 title secured, Berinsfield sealed a league and cup double.
Luke Sanders put them ahead on 21 minutes with an 18-yard snap shot and Murphy doubled the lead with a shot into the top left corner from just inside the box.
Ten minutes later he made it 3-0 with a neat lob.
Berinsfield made it 4-0 after the break when Mark Ingram’s free-kick struck Luke Holdsworth’s shoulder and a defender’s head on its way in.
Murphy completed the rout in stoppage time, firing beneath keeper Ben Maidens to complete his treble.
A James Bowsher goal proved in vain as East Hendred Res lost 3-1 to Kintbury in the AG Kingham Cup final.
Rob Denison, Alastair Shambrook and George Lybech Harris did the damage.
