6:00am Wednesday 7th May 2014 in Headlines
A dominant Oakley United lifted the Oxfordshire Senior League President’s Cup for the first time as they ran out 3-0 winners against Mansfield Road.
The Premier Division leaders were fast out of the blocks at Abingdon Town’s Culham Road.
Their pressure finally paid off after 20 minutes, when defender Mitchell Meridith stabbed home at a corner.
James Keeble made it 2-0 when Mansfield failed to clear another corner ten minutes later, with the skipper smashing home from 16 yards.
It was more of the same in the second half and two substitutes combined for the third goal to seal victory.
Martin Kinsey made a great run and lifted the ball for strike partner Ben Gray to finish well into the bottom corner.
More than £600 was raised for charity on the day.
Junior Howards scored twice in a minute to give Adderbury Park a 4-0 win at home to Stonesfield in the Premier Division.
After opening the scoring in the 12th minute with a fine solo run, he was on hand to finish the next attack when Gavin Connor’s cross was parried by the goalkeeper.
David Addison and Leam Howards completed the scoring in the second half on Saturday.
Adderbury had suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Oxford University Press three days earlier.
Neil Lockhart scored either side of half-time to put the visitors in charge, before Mark Essex headed a consolation.
Carly Bloomfield bagged a hat-trick as Riverside won an entertaining game 5-3 at Marston Saints.
Jerome McCalmon and Craig Bloomfield were also on target for the away side.
Jason Hallatt, Sean Kerr and Josh Carr found the back of the net for Marston.
Roger Gill struck a 94th-minute equaliser to ear-n Mansfield Road a 1-1 draw at Bletchingdon.
Richard Wells had opened the scoring for the hosts from 25 yards.
