CALOR LEAGUE
NORTH Leigh manager Mark Gee has backed his side to keep up the heat on their Division 1 South & West play-off rivals as they entertain struggling Clevedon Town tomorrow.
The Millers have won their last three matches, scoring 13 goals in the process, but have only three games to make up a four-point deficit.
“It would be great to have it all in our own hands, but we’re relying on others,” said Gee.
“We’ve been in the opposite position, and when you see the teams behind you have won again you start to look over your shoulders a little bit.”
North Leigh are boosted by the return of midfielder Elliott Osborne-Ricketts from suspension and striker Kieran Sanders from injury, with defender Andy Caton also being available after missing last weekend’s 7-0 thrashing of Guildford City.
Didcot Town could end Yate Town’s slim play-off hopes with an away win.
The Railwaymen are six games unbeaten, but Pablo Haysham and Michael McKirnan are suspended.
In the Premier Division, boss Edwin Stein believes Banbury United have turned a corner after their second win in three games – a 1-0 victory at Weymouth on Tuesday.
And Stein expects another good performance against promotion-chasing St Albans City tomorrow as the Puritans look to end a difficult season strongly.
“I think people understand what we’re trying to achieve now,” said Stein.
“No-one likes to lose, but sometimes you have to go through that to get to where you want to be.”
Kynan Isaac (knee) is out, but Marvin Martin, Adeyinka Talabi and Luke Fathers return.
BANBURY won 4-3 at Olney last night in the semi-final first leg of the Buckingham Charity Cup.
