United need to think bigger - Go for the Likes of Martin Jol! Ok he may be expensive and may of course not be interested in Oxford United but if they do not ask they will not get and IF United really are going places then it is absolutely of no possible good looking at the likes of Purse, Windass or Rush. Time to get someone who has been there and done something at or very near to the TOP!
Lol thought it was Aprils fools day where are Oxford united going to get the money to pay for that quality of manager"

Darren Purse has become the latest former Oxford United player to apply for the vacant manager's position.

The 36-year-old's CV has been sent into the club, joining ex-U's Dean Windass and David Rush, who wants to be considered for a coaching role, in the process.

Purse has his UEFA 'A' licence and is studying for a Diploma of Football Management at St George's Park in Burton.

The centre back joined Calor League Premier Division side Chesham United last month after a spell playing in Finland with IFK Mariehamn.

Purse made 72 appearances for United before moving to Birmingham City in a £700,000 deal in February 1998.
