Banbury United manager Edwin Stein has urged Kynan Isaac to keep his head up and let his feet do the talking after a trial at Ipswich Town proved unsuccessful.

The pacy 20-year-old winger, who signed for the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division club from Witney Town after he was released by Oxford City, spent ten days at the npower Championship side.

On Monday, he played 84 minutes for their under 21 development side in a 2-1 win at Charlton Athletic, but on Tuesday was told that the club would not be pursuing their interest.

“Ipswich have sent him back to us,” said Stein.

“They are not going to offer him anything, but a number of other clubs, who shall remain nameless, are really interested in his future.

“We’re really pleased to have him back, because he is our spark.

“But when he goes for another trial, I would like to play him in matches rather than training games.

“Kynan’s done OK and his technical ability is second to none. But the big problem is that he needs to be playing all the time to hone his skills.

“He was there ten days laying around and he lost his edge and sharpness because he wasn’t playing games.

“Kynan told me he wasn’t that disappointed because he thought he did well enough.

“When I watched Kynan training at Ipswich he did not look out of place. He has the ability to handle pressure.”

He added: “If he gets his head down and shows that desire in every game he plays, he is not going to have a problem and can be a star.”

Meanwhile, Banbury give late fitness tests to Jack Ashton and Ryan Dumbledon ahead of tomorrow’s home game against Stourbridge.

Didcot Town boss Gary Elkins says his in-form side are capable of making a push for the Division 1 South & West play-offs.

On Tuesday, Didcot beat Taunton Town 3-0 to make it four wins and two draws from their last seven games.

Elkins said the recruitment of Luke Carnell, Ricky Allaway, Joel Meade and Mark Janes had been a key factor in their resurgence.

“We went through a period where we lost players and had trouble recruiting more,” said Elkins.

“But the problems at Witney Town with all the players leaving meant it had a knock-on effect and we’ve been able to add strength and experience.

“We’ve now got a few six-footers, so we’re a real threat at set-pieces.”

Elkins added: “I would love us to push on and get close to the play-offs, but it’s about how we perform.”

Didcot will be at full strength for their trip to Swindon Supermarine.

Abingdon United are due to host Yate Town, while North Leigh are scheduled to visit Tiverton Town.
