ABINGDON Vale 2nd’s match with Horspath 3rd was halted for almost an hour when a police helicopter and air ambulance landed on the outfield.

They were dealing with an accident,which saw a pensioner die after driving his mobility scooter into the Thames.

Tom Smith (5-69) had Vale in trouble on 117-8 after 28 overs, but they recovered to 163 all out on the resumption thanks to Henry Pickford’s 47 not out.

Joe Butcher (4-33) helped reduce Horspath to 117-8, but Clive Ricks (35) led a fightback before they closed on 159-9.

Tiddington pipped hosts Thame Town 2nd by two wickets with nine balls left.

Richard Carr scored 36 in Thame’s 139 all out, Ian Pykett taking 3-19 .

Phil Manning hit 43, Ian McStay taking 3-31 and Alastair Thomas 3-54 in Tiddington’s 141-8.

Horley’s first Cherwell League match saw them ease past Banbury 4th.

David Clark hit an unbeaten 86 in Horley’s 127-4 replying to the visitors’ 126 all out.

Asif Hussain had made 49 for Banbury, Dave Eaton bagging 5-13 and Pete Papenfus 3-11.

Kimble’s Michael Stackhouse (5-16) and Josh Tack (3-34) dismissed Challow & Childrey 2nd for 133, with Pat Bryan making 35 and Roger Podbery 31. Dan Bull (38no) took Kimble to 135-4.
