Wes Morrick destroyed high-riding Tring Park single-handed to set up a shock two-wicket victory for hosts Aston Rowant in Division 1 on Saturday in the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League.

Even by his own high standard's Morrick’'s spell of 7-49 from 25 overs was extraordinary.

He sent Tring's powerful top order – which included former Middlesex player Keith Dutch and three Buckinghamshire batsmen – crashing to 32-5 in admittedly helpful conditions following overnight rain.

Rowant won an important toss, but Tring could not cope with Morrick (pictured), who was assisted by two sharp cat-ches from Chris Watling.

Left-hander Kyle Nipper scored a 50, before he became Morrick's sixth victim at 95.

With Nathaniel Watkins wrapping up the tail, Tring were finally dismissed for 135.

In reply, Rowant also found problems with the conditions.

They were soon in big trouble at 68-7 and looking at the prospect of throwing away what seemed to be a great position.

However an eighth-wicket stand of 45 runs between Morrick and Watkins took Aston to 113.

Morrick fell for 37 as Tring's bowlers turned the screw, but Tom Needham and the impressive Watkins saw Aston home to a valuable win.
