GEMMA Bridge marked her first competitive race walk by landing the 3km title in Sheffield.
The Oxford City athlete triumphed in 13mins 41.33secs at the Under 20/Senior Combined Events Championships.
Despite only recently converting to race walking from middle and long-distance running, Bridge’s time puts her 13th on the all-time UK rankings.
City’s Tim Stephens also competed in Sheffield.
He finished sixth in the Under 23 National Indoor Heptathlon Championships – his first competition in the age group.
Competing amongst senior athletes, he placed 11th overall in a field of 23.
Stephens started with a personal best of 7.51secs in the 60m and he ended the first day 14th after solid performances in the long jump, shot and high jump.
A time of 9.06 in the 60m hurdles and effort of 3.61m in the pole vault boosted his hopes.
Stephens then set the fastest mark of the day in the 1,000m of 2mins 36.85secs to help him finish with an overall personal best score of 4,726 points.
JACK Shayler, of Abingdon, won the Woodcote 10k by more than a minute ahead of nearest rival Ben Paviour, of Reading.
