ABINGDON put in an impressive team display to win the second round of the Midland League at Corby by 40 points.

Kirstine Fahl started the track events with a victory and personal best in the 400m hurdles in the Division 4 match.

Ben Claridge won the 400m and 800m, with Alec Vessey taking five seconds off his 1,500m personal best to triumph.

Katharine Harris notched two bests in the 800m and 1,500m, winning the latter at her first track event.

In the field, Fatima Jammeh Kinteh and Katherine Mitchell claimed four wins between them in the throws.

There was also a strong showing in the pole vault, with Pete Stepney taking victory in the B-string.

With the win almost certainly in the bag the team still finished strongly, with top three finishes in all the relays.

BICESTER finished seventh at the Heart of England League meeting at Worcester.

Their athletes put in spirited performances during the Division 2 match, with the under 11 girls winning their age group and the boys third.

One of the highlights was the 4x100m mixed relay victory, which saw Isla Bohannon, Josephine Parker, Seoin Alexander and Joshua Parker cross in a swift 62.0secs.

Victories were hard to come by in the older age groups, but Jamil Welham clocked a national grade 3 effort of 40.5secs to win the under 15 300m.

Banbury finished a place above Bicester in the standings.

Under 17 Rebecca Scott performed well to win the long jump and high jump, while Tegan Armstrong set a personal best of 11.8secs to win the under 13 girls 70m hurdles.

Tilly Lainchbury claimed victory in the under 11 600m.

Ollie Sprio continued his fine form to win the under 17 100m, while Christopher Charles was victorious in the under 13 70m hurdles, and Reuben Snelson in the under 11 600m.
