Diane Moore, of Headington Road Runners, secured second place in the women’s event at the Andy Reading Memorial 10K Road Race around Chesterton.
Moore clocked 38mins 03secs, but was nearly two minutes behind the winner, Belgrave Harrier Samantha Amend, who retained her crown in 36.18.
Harry Earl, from Border AC, made the long trip worthwhile, taking the title in 32.35.
He was pursued by Alexander Miller (Belgrave), who was 27 seconds down. Mathieu Marshall (Oxford City) claimed third with 34.12.
Host club interest centred on Alchester’s Richard Gould, who was pipped for the V40 title by Headington’s Jame Eve.
Tony Lock, from Witney AC, ran 36.15 to win the vet 50 category, while Phil Kimber (Oxford City) ran an excellent 44.03 to take the vet 70 prize.
l PAUL Jegou (White Horse Harriers) came second in the Wessex Cross Country League finale at Canford School in 27mins 57secs, but won the V40 class.
Richard Jegou recorded two wins and a second place in the V70 category at the Secta Christmas throws meeting in Ewell.
He won the shot (9.45m) and discus (29.24) and was runner-up in the hammer (29.56).
