Hammer thrower Aislinn Baird smashed her own club record while helping Radley to victory in their Southern League Division 2 West fixture at Tilsley Park.

Baird threw 46.43m to break the record and win the event by an astonishing 12m.

Her teammates Kathryn Woodcock, Christina Nick and Luisa Chantler also dominated the other throwing events with Woodcock’s discus distance of 42.75m gaining her the female athlete of the match with 839 points.

Other great performances came from under 20 triple-jumper Will Swift who recorded a club record of 13.35m to win the event on his senior debut.

Meanwhile, Abingdon AC won the Athletics Direct Midland League Division 5 meeting at Burton.

There was further success for the club’s women in the Southern Veterans league.

Abingdon’s men were runners-up in their event.

Victories in four of the six age groups secured Radley promotion from Division 3 of the Heart of England League at Tilsley Park, Abingdon.

The club made it three wins from three in the event this season with a commanding display.

The under 17 men won 16 events out a possible 20 and achieved their second club record in a week in the 4x100m relay.

And not be outdone by their male counterparts, Radley’s women won 15 of 20 events.

Just five boys were available in the under 15 competition, yet they still managed to win their age group by eight points, with the girls storming to victory in a highly-competitive event.

Radley’s under 13 boys came second. Meanwhile, Millie Couzens celebrated a treble as Bicester AC finished second behind Radley.

She began her success by winning the under 13 girls’ 200m in 30.7 seconds, before also taking the 70m hurdles (13.5) and the high jump (1.20m).
