OXFORD City bounced back with a 2-0 win at Hinckley to return to fourth in Blue Square Bet North last night.

City had lost 3-0 at home to Guiseley in their last match, but returned to winning ways in comfortable style.

Former Oxford United winger Jamie Cook wrapped up the spoils in the second half after Declan Benjamin had given City the lead.

Keeper Warren Carter had to deny Hinckley’s Duke Holt early on, while Cook saw an effort tipped over.

City took the lead on ten minutes when Cook played in Benjamin and he finished well past Robert Peet.

Aron Wint headed over for Hinckley, while Aaron Cole’s driven cross only needed a touch to give the hosts an equaliser.

Jack Lane tried his luck from long range, but Carter did not have too much to do in the City goal.

The visitors doubled their advantage on 58 minutes when Cook met Nabil Sharif’s cross with a powerful header at the back post to net goal No 2.

City leapfrogged Halifax to go fourth, but have played two more games than them.
