Round-up

ABINGDON continued their excellent early season form with a 61-10 home thrashing of Berkshire Shire Hall in the BB&O Championship.

Wing Paul Rynhardt bagged a hat-trick of tries, with captain and scrum half Ollie Young (2), full back Robert Tyreman (2), flanker Richard Broughton and centre Luke Matthews also crossing.

Fly half Mark Roberts slotted eight conversions for Abingdon, who are clawing back a 20-point deduction for fielding an ineligible player last season.

Didcot led twice before losing 17-8 at Kingsclere.

Steve Connell scored a try and John Stephens landed a drop goal.

Faringdon had outside centre Jason Morbey stretchered off with a twisted knee as they lost 74-0 at leaders Farnham Royal.

Gosford All Blacks buckled under a late surge to lose 21-9 at Swindon College Old Boys in the BB&O Premier Division.

Tim Ellis kicked Gosford 6-0 and 9-7 ahead with three penalties.

In between, Swindon lock Woody Briggs scored a try, converted by Scott Buchanan, while they had Owen Crean yellow-carded.

Tries from No 8 Shaun O`Rourke and Drew Allen, converted by Buchanan, won it for Swindon, who had two more players sin-binned in the final minute.

Carl Tappin scored Harwell’s solitary try in a 74-5 defeat at Stow-on-the-Wold.
