HANNAH England will look to defend her title at the Great North CityGames this weekend, while Lawrence Clarke is set for his debut.
Oxford’s England goes again in the one-mile road race on Saturday, which is part of a series of events to showcase athletics on the streets of Newcastle.
The 25-year-old Oxford City athlete won the race in 2011 in a time of 4mins 40secs, beating fellow Brits Helen Clitheroe, Jenny Meadows and Emma Pallant.
England finished third in her final track race of the season on Sunday - the IAAF World Challenge meeting in Rieti, Italy.
The 2011 world silver medallist clocked 4.11.50 in the 1,500m to come in behind Kenya’s Mary Kuria and USA’s Anna Pierce.
Clark, from Christmas Common, will compete in the 110m hurdles – the event in which he finished fourth at London 2012.
The event precedes Sunday’s Great North Run and will be shown live on BBC 1 from 1-2.30pm.
