Masons Arms crushed leaders Didcot Conservative Club with a 5-1 home win in Group A of the Johnson Buildbase Oxford Summer League, writes PETE EWINS.

Alan Lowe beat Dave Tooke to give Masons the lead only for Stuart Florey to level with a 4,900-2,110 victory over Mick Murphy.

But Martyn Wood (4,230 and 2,420), Murphy (3,750) and Wood again struck to clinch Masons’ victory.

Comrades Club are the new leaders following a 3-3 draw at West Oxford Democrats. John Patey top-scored for Democrats with 10,790, while Adam Thorn was Comrades’ leading marksman with 7,530.

In Group B, Marlborough Club moved within two points of leaders Berinsfield A with a 5-1 win at Berinsfield Club B.

Arthur McIntyre (3,750 & 3,130), Pete Rose (2,230) and Chris Iagoe (2,040) put the vistors 4-0 up.

Phil McFarland (5,010) pulled one back with the night’s top score, before Iagoe struck again.

Jenny Florey beat Jenny Parsons by 200 to put Oxford in front, before Sue Atkins (4,380), Sonya McIntyre (3,930) made it 3-0.

Mellissa Standbridge (3,130) and Pauline Withey (3,730) then kept their cool to take the last two legs.
