Didcot Town went down 3-2 to a Reading XI in front of a crowd of around 450 at the Loop Meadow Stadium on Tuesday night.
Reading, fielded mainly a development side that included the sons of former England internationals Martin Keown and Neil Webb, stormed into a 3-0 lead by half-time.
Jordan Avita put them ahead with a volley and then Karl Sheppard cashed in on an error by keeper Jon Beames to make it 2-0 and Ryan Edwards added No 3 with the goal of the game.
Both sides made wholesale changes at the break, but Didcot rallied well and two newcomers, James Clarke and Pablo Heysham, putting themselves on the scoresheet.
