There was disappointment for all five Oxfordshire players in local final qualifying for The Open Championship.
Eddie Pepperell came closest to claiming one of the last 12 places for the field at Royal Lytham & St Annes later this month.
The Frilford Heath golfer, who is enjoying a good season on the European Challenge Tour, shot a one-under-par 71 in the opening round at Southport and Ainsdale.
But a level par 72 in the second round ended the 21-year-old’s hopes.
Craig Hinton (The Oxfordshire) had a fighting chance after opening up with a 72, but also fell short in the afternoon with a round of 73.
Former Oxford City champion Clive Bowler (pictured) finished well off the pace following scores of 74 and 77, as did Frilford’s Tom Fleming, who shot 76 and 72.
The final local challenger, Adam Wootton, was unable to repeat his qualifying success from 12 months ago.
The Oxford Golf Centre assistant professional carded rounds of 76 and 71 at St Annes.
