GREAT & Little Tew skipper Andy Harris says his players will learn lessons from their seven-wicket humbling by Gloucestershire champions Apperley in the Yorkshire Tea Village Cup.
The last-32 defeat ended Tew’s hopes of national glory and Harris admitted his side’s poor display had left him baffled.
“I’m very disappointed,” said Harris.
“We lost early wickets and that was crucial. It was a dry wicket which took spin, but it was nothing out of the ordinary.
“They know how to play their pitch and we couldn’t find the answer.
“They were chasing only 120, so they were able to play their shots.”
Tew watched Apperley in the previous round to prepare for the game.
Harris added: “We did the groundwork and knew what we were up against. I had full confidence in my players.
“I think it’s a case of a young side that are still learning the game. But we will take the positives from this game.”
Meanwhile, Harris says it is important they keep up the the pressure on Cherwell League Division 1 leaders Horspath when his second-placed side host Banbury 2nd on Saturday.
He added: “It’s a bit of a needle match and then we have Horspath, so we can’t take anyone lightly.”
