Gary Pether prevailed in the second Masons AC League points match, fished on a tricky Slinket Lake at Aynho.

The lake was still holding a lot of extra flood water and proved to be difficult for the seven competitors.

Pether poled maggot to one of the islands to collect two carp and a couple of small fish for 11-10-0.

Second was Jason Smith, using the feeder and continuously changing bait, to land a carp and two bream for 10-13-0.

In third place, with two bream for 4-6-0, was Phil Light.

The ultra-consistent Jason Bean led a field of ten to triumph in the penultimate North Oxford summer canal match with 5.2.0 of bread-caught skimmers plus a small tench.

Karl Beauchamp caught perch and skimmers on the maggot for 4.6.0 to secure second spot, followed by Roger Brown’s 2.14.0 of bread caught skimmers.

Barry Eddy’s tactics proved spot-on when he won Dynamite Oakfield Fishery’s contest at Brook & Swallow Lakes on Wednesday.

Drawing peg 18 on Swallow, he used a long pole into the centre of the top bowl. Eddy fished paste and took mainly smaller carp with a few more than 7lb.

Result: 1 B Eddy (Panshill Wood) 94-9-0, 2 J Rogers (Frenzee GOT Bait), 79-06-8, 3 N Bryan (Matchmen) 74-02-8.

Peg 18 on Swallow also produced the winning weight on Saturday – but only just.

Ivan Graham netted carp to 9lb, accumulating steadily throughout the afternoon.

Steve Page, from peg 30 on Brook, was just a couple of ounces behind in second.

Result: 1 I Graham (J&K Tackle) 125-7-8, 2 S Page (Frenzee GOT Baits) 125-5-0, 3 N Bryan (Matchmen), 85-02-8.

The final Anne Malone Memorial match on Stable Lake raised £1,080 for the Sobell House Hospice.

Harry Oliver (Predator) won it with 65-12-0 of carp, caught on a pole with pellet paste bait.

Anthony Alder, fishing pole and maggot, was second with 57-0-0 of carp. Roger Malone was third with 47-8-0.

Oliver was pipped for the series title by Stephen Malone.

Both finished on 46 points, with Malone getting the verdict on overall weight. Dave Clarke (Predator FTD) was third on 43.
