Young City of Oxford swimmer Lizzie Oliver reached the finals in no fewer than seven Level 2 events at the City of Birmingham Easter Weekend Open.

However, the 14-year-old came home without a victory, having to settle for two silver medals and two bronzes.

Oliver came second in both the 50m breaststroke (36.10secs) and the 100m individual medley (1min 10.32secs).

Her third places came in the 50m freestyle (28.16) and 800m freestyle (9.28.61).

She also came fourth in the 400m freestyle (4.29.06) and sixth in both the 200m Freestyle (2.11.96), and the 100m freestyle (1.01.14).

Clubmate Lisa Van Breugel, 17, took first place in the 1500m freestyle (17.43.43), and came second in both the 200m freestyle (2.07.64) and the 100m freestyle (58.93).

She also posted personal bests for 200m backstroke, 200m breaststroke and 200m freestyle.

It proved a successful day for City’s squad of just under 50, who were among saw 67 clubs from across the country to compete. Oxford wonwards for the best visiting club for having the best supporters.

DIDCOT Barramundi’s Shannon Motha, 13, and David Murphy, 13, brought medals back from the Portsmouth Easter Festival.

Motha gained silver in the 100m backstroke and a bronze medal in the 50m butterfly.

Murphy achieved silver in the 50m breaststroke and was placed sixth in the 100m breaststroke.
