OXFORDSHIRE runners had to be content with second place in the Carterton 10k on Sunday.

Woodstock Harriers’ Kevin Game (pictured) finished runner-up in 35mins 42secs, while Alchester’s Liz Grolimund was the second lady home in 39.13.

Cirencester’s Chris Illman, an Oxford Mail Cross Country League regular, won the race in a dominant 32.51, with Gemma Bridge (Birmingham University) taking the ladies’ honours in 37.29.

Witney Road Runner Dave Swan finished third in 35.54, while Woodstock’s Jess Webb was third lady, clocking 39.46.

Oxford City’s Rob Webster was first vet 40 home, coming sixth in 36.11, Bryan Vaughan (Woodstock) took the vet 50 title in 37.33, while Dave Parsons (Oxford City) was the leading vet 60 man in 39.55.

Witney Road Runner Lucy Garrod took the ladies’ vet 45 honours in 48.51.
