PETER Leven’s sensational strike against Port Vale earlier this season missed out on the Football League’s goal of the year honour.
Leven’s effort, which saw him lob keeper Stuart Tomlinson from 57 yards at the Kassam Stadium during Oxford United’s 2-1 victory in October, made the final shortlist for the League’s awards evening in London tonight.
But the midfielder was pipped to the accolade by Cardiff’s Peter Whittingham.
