Daza Usher will face seasoned veteran Jason Nesbitt when he has his second professional assignment at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon on Friday, March 23.

And the 28 year-old Bicester light welterweight is relishing the prospect of theforthcoming encounter.

Usher said: “Jason is a veteran of 153 fights and – as you would expect – is in great physical shape to have remained in the game for so long.

“I’ve seen him on video several times and watched him box Chris Higgs at Chippenham on the same night I made my debut.

“He is tricky and resourceful – just the kind of opponent that I can learn from at this crucial stage in my career.

“He boxed Bradley Saunders – the Beijing Olympian and former European amateur champion having his professional debut – recently and he did not let him have it all his own way.

“I’ve got the opportunity to learn from this fight and that is precisely what I intend to do. Witney super middleweight (Steve) Marvin Mullins also boxes on the Swindon card with details of his opponent to be confirmed next week.

The two men had an extra reason to enjoy returning to training this week – bragging rights after the weekend’s football results.

Mullins, 31, added: “Daza and myself are, naturally, Oxford United fans so we both had wide smiles going into gym after the double had been achieved this season over the old enemy – most of the lads there are Swindon Town supporters. The ten-round clash for the vacant British Boxing Board of Control Southern Area super-middleweight title between Swindon’s Kelvin Young and Martin Robbins, from Bristol, tops the seven-bout Oasis bill on March 23.

Tickets, priced at £35 and £60 (VIP/ringside are available from Mullins on 07710 304212 and Usher on 07722 871785).
