National 3 South West

CHINNOR racked up their second thumping home win of 2012 and their 15th straight victory – hammering Bristol’s Old Redcliffians 67-17.

They ran in ten tries, with No 8 Liam Gilbert and openside flanker Alex Waddingham bagging a brace apiece.

Chinnor scored their first try through wing Pip Seymour before Redcliffians had touched the ball, fly half James Cathcart converting.

The hosts also bodged three scoring chances, with centre Matt Goode knocking on for the first and Gilbert the second.

Cathcart kicked a penalty before setting up a try for wing Tom Gray with an exquisite long pass.

The fly half caught his own up-and-under then off-loaded for full back Henry Colver to score No 3, Cathcart converting.

Seymour committed Chinnor’s third howler on 35 minutes when dropping the ball as he looked to touch down under the posts.

But Gilbert burst off the back of a dominant scrum to touch down for the bonus-point try.

Redcliffians opened the second half with a try from Chris Thompson, converted by Joe Hall.

Goode barrelled over for Chinnor’s fifth try and off-loaded to Waddingham for his first, Cathcart converting.

Gray created a seventh try for lock Tom Mowbray, which Cathcart converted, but Thompson then added his second.

Gilbert’s second came after some good carrying by lock Andy Smith, Cathcart converting.

Craig Owen grabbed a third Redcliffians try, but there was still time for Waddinghan and centre Stoop to touch down for Chinnor, Cathcart converting both.

Oxford Harlequins slipped back into the relegation zone after a 32-10 defeat at Chippenham.

Chippenham led via a penalty from scrum half Lewis Surry.

But fly half Andy Noyce and scrum half Jack Cosins set up flanker Sione Vaio'mounga, who powered over for a Quins try, converted by Martin Nutt.

However, Chippenham No 8 James Doubleday burst through some poor defence to bag the first of a hat-trick, Surry converting.

An injury to full back Harry Warman saw Joe Todd come on at fly half and kick a penalty with his first touch.

Chippenham powered away in the second half, with wing Fraser Clivered scoring on 42 minutes.

Doubleday notched his second, Surry converting for 22-10, and then drove over for his treble on 56 minutes.

Replacement Aaron Clark completed Chippenham’s try tally, while Vaio'mounga, Nutt and home lock Adrian Price were all sin-binned near the end.
