BB&O Round-up

DICKIE Walsh’s late try earned Bicester a pulsating 21-18 home victory over Stow-on-the-Wold in the BB&O Premier Division.

Bicester took the lead with a penalty from captain Dan Spencer, who then combined with scrum half Craig Smith to send flanker Anthony Nightingale over for a try.

Wing Tommy Peachey scored for Stow, who led with two penalties from full back James Ford.

No 8 Spencer was sin-binned for head-butting Craig Champan, but returned to kick a penalty.

Prop Tom Horwood was driven over for Bicester, but Chapman’s try, converted by Ford, looked to have won it before Walsh struck.

Gosford All Blacks suffered the opposite fate to Bicester, losing out 24-22 in the dying seconds at Princes Risborough.

Wing Tom Pither’s try, converted by fly half Nick Grimsdell, put Risborough ahead, but a Tim Ellis penalty and Harry Sutton’s try saw Gosford lead 8-7.

No 8 Rob Hall forced his way over for the hosts, with Gosford replacement Liam Donnelly motoring in for Ellis to convert.

Grimsdell’s try put Risborough 17-15 ahead before Sutton bagged a second, converted by Ellis.

Home scrum half Hugh Filcher’s try, converted by Grimsdell, won it.

BB&O Championship leaders Harwell earned their 13th win in 13 matches – this time a hard-fought 33-8 derby victory over Didcot.

Fly half Andy Lee notched two tries and four conversions, while Joe Pigott, Rob Froud-Williams and Rob Douglas also touched down.

Didcot rallied with Marcus Grimes’s late try and Ben McLoughlin’s penalty.
