Glenn Walker kept his head from the penalty spot as Banbury United got back to winning ways in the Premier Division with a narrow 1-0 victory at Frome Town.

Banbury went close to breaking the deadlock within the opening 20 seconds when Ricky Johnson was foiled by a last-ditch tackle from home defender Tom Evans.

They then had to withstand some severe home pressure, but Banbury, with skipper Liam Dolman and Ben Thackeray outstanding, coped well.

And they took the lead in the 26th minute when Dean Flockton handled and Walker confidently stroked the ball home from the penalty spot.

Banbury went close to doubling their advantage on 34 minutes when Josh Cole headed a Joe Coleman cross into the path of Josh Blake, but he failed to make a clean connection and keeper Darren Chitty cleared.

The second half was a non-event, with defences dominant.

Although Frome turned up the heat in the latter stages, Banbury held on.
