Wallingford players will scrum down to raise funds for the Sue Ryder – Nettlebed Hospice on Christmas Eve.

The are hosting an internal match to support the charity, with kick-off 2pm at the Hithercroft.

Wallingford RFC president Nick Castle said: “The match promises to be a fun afternoon for anyone who attends.

“Although the club have organised the match in order to raise funds for Nettlebed Hospice, the players are very competitive and it should be an extremely exciting game.”

Vicky Smith, community fundraiser at Nettlebed Hospice, said: “We are delighted that Wallingford Rugby Club have chosen to support Sue Ryder.

“Each year we need to raise £1.4m in voluntary donations in order to provide our specialist palliative and end-of-life care to those with life-limiting illness in the local community.

“Support of this kind really is vital.”

Entry will be on a voluntary donation basis.
