LOWLY Fieldside turned the formbook on its head to record a shock 4-1 victory away to leaders Oracle in the first round of the Gentworks Oxford & District League’s Stephen Reiss Cup.
With one point for a win and two points for the total aggregate, it went right to the last shot of the game.
David Baker (-40) started the ball rolling for Fieldside with a break of 47, beating Gordon Cook (+50) 200-148.
Oracle’s David Noake (+40) won 200-149, with a break of 38, against Mike Chapman (+70).
The last game went right to the wire, with Paul Robinson (-60) making the final scoring shot to win by two points over Matty Bramall (+50), 200-198.
This gave Fieldside the aggregate victory by three points – 549-546 – to claim the two extra points to add to their 2-1 success.
