TRAINER Chris Stringer, who rejoined Oxford a few months ago, is quitting Sandy Lane, to go full time at Swindon.

He had a dual attachment between the neighbouring tracks, and now feels that racing at one circuit makes economic sense.

There are no plans to replace him, but I have heard whispers that a former trainer may return.

  • THERE was a jackpot win at the stadium, but sadly not to a local punter. The £10,500 pool was scooped by an internet punter, who will certainly enjoy his Christmas.
  • THE Nick Colton-trained Grayfox Millie has been a busy girl this year.

Not only has she whelped a litter, but the five year-old bounced back on the track to record her 13th win at Oxford, posting a top 27.05secs time.

  • THE Angie Kibble-trained On Offer posted the fastest time of the five weekend meetings with 27.01, but this was eclipsed by another of her kennel strength when Light the Way made everyone sit up and take notice after a blistering 26.89 at Monday’s trials session.
  • THE search is on for the Kennelhand of the Year 2011, to be awarded at the National Greyhound Awards on Sunday, January 22 at the Park Plaza Riverbank in London.

Trainers, owners, fellow kennel-staff and friends are asked to nominate the person they feel should win the national accolade.

Kennel hands are often the unsung heroes and work hard for little reward.
