DRENNAN GOT Baits have retained their Oxford Winter League title after the sixth and final round on Sunday.

They triumphed on nine points, with Sensas A4 runners-up on 11 and early front-runners Turners third on 14.

Both Drennan and Sensas go through to the semi-finals of the national competition to be held in March.

The final Oxford round was fished by five teams of ten on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Avington and after two consecutive nights of frost, the first job for the anglers was to break the ice.

The fishing was predictably hard in the low, clear water and overcast conditions that later turned to rain, but there were no blanks.

Peter Bowles (Sensas A4) triumphed with 6.11.0 of perch on chopped worm and pole, backed up with roach and small perch on bloodworm.

Martin Kirk (Turners Tackle) was an ounce behind with a similar net of fish, followed by Richard Rosinski (Sensas A4) with 6.2.0 of small fish on bloodworm.

Drennan and Sensas finished joint top on the day with 38 points, Turners taking third place.
