Damian Batt says that while everyone has been hurt by Oxford United’s poor run of form, it has hit him particularly hard.

And that is because he admits to being a really bad loser.

The right back says that he is definitely a person to avoid after a defeat – and that goes for in all sports, at all times.

“Everyone knows in this team that I am one of the worst losers there is,” he said.

“I hate losing, whether it’s football or even just a game of table tennis.

“You can’t speak to me after for a while because I just can’t stand it.”

Batt says that it always takes a good deal of time to get the negative thoughts out of his head, but it is something he has got better at over the years.

“It does play on my mind, but you have to try and make sure you don’t let it get you down for too long or it really eats at you,” he said.

“It’s something I have told myself to deal with better over the years.

“You don’t want to be happy when you lose, so it’s good in that sense, but we have a team who don’t like losing.

“You have to deal with it, get over it and then be prepared to win the next game.”

It seems like an age ago that United last had a game, even if it was only a fortnight, but Batt says that the time has flown by because of the extra hours the squad have been putting in in training.

“The break came at a good time for us to recharge and regroup, but we can’t wait to go again,” he said.

“November wasn’t a great month for us, we know that, the break allows you to regain that focus.

“The two weeks have gone quickly as we have been in working hard so it has flown by to be honest.”
