Oxford City striker Steve Basham is set to return to action when they travel to his old club Brackley in Tuesday night's Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division clash.

Basham missed Saturday’s goalless draw with Cirencester Town with an Achilles problem, but City are hopeful he can make the line-up as they look to get back in the goals.

City’s last two league games have ended goalless, but boss Mike Ford feels his side needs to be less naive.

“We look very solid at the back and don’t look like conceding,” said Ford.

“But we are not creating too much at the other end. But we’re not losing games and that is a good sign when we’re not at our best.

“I think teams have come to us with a slightly different game-plan, because before we were an unknown quantity.

“I think we have to be a bit more savvy with the ball.”

He added: “I think it’s a good time to play Brackley because there is less pressure on us.

“They lost 5-2 on Saturday, so they will want a win and that may create more space for us.”

Didcot Town face a trip to Paulton Rovers in Division 1 South & West.

Banbury United manager Ady Fuller is optimistic that they will find someone to fill Will Green’s shoes after the striker joined Brackley Town.

Fuller said: “It’s time to move on. Will did ever so well for us and I hope it goes well for him.

“I’m sure there’s another Will Green out there.”

Meanwhile, Banbury are likely to be without Ben Thackeray (hamstring), Nick Kingston (foot) and Josh Cole (foot) when they travel to Redditch United in the Red Insure Cup second round.

Tuesday’s squads Oxford City (v Brackley, away): from McCloughlin, Clarke, Learoyd, Ballard, Martin, Blossom, Heapy, Benjamin, Barcelos, Steele, Ashton, Malone, Fisher, Fleet.

Banbury Utd (v Redditch, away): from Kemp, Williams, Kinch, Dolman, Thackeray, Polk, Coleman, Cole, Howell, Edmond, Walker, Woodley, Johnson, Stanbridge, Richardson.
