South West 1 East
WING James Monks scored two tries as Witney produced an impressive display to win 22-0 at Swindon.
Swindon were not at full strength but Witney were delighted with their efforts, especially keeping a clean sheet.
They had the wind behind them in the first half and took the lead when full back Dan Purkiss showed his pace to score after just 90 seconds.
Fly half Henry Lamb converted this and Monks’s first effort on nine minutes as Swindon were put under great pressure.
The visitors kept pressing and were rewarded with Monks’s second try, following some slick passing, on 25 minutes.
Swindon defended well to keep it to 19-0 at the break, and were boosted by the sin-binning of Witney lock Richard Haire.
But the visitors held out and Lamb slotted a 65th-minute penalty.
Centres James Lamb and Tom Harper suffered late injuries, but Swindon were still repelled.
