Banbury United manager Ady Fuller has urged Will Green to forget about the speculation surrounding a possible switch to rivals Brackley Town and get on with scoring goals.

Their Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division rivals have put in a bid for the 11-goal striker, but Fuller wants the 18-year-old to stay.

“I think it has been preying on his mind because he hasn’t been playing as well as we know he can,” said Fuller.

“He has got to think will he be playing week-in, week-out for Brackley? He can stay here for the rest of season and get us 30 goals and go on next season.

“I just want him to play his football as he has been doing.”

Meanwhile, Banbury could give a debut to their new striker from Woodford United, Ricky Johnson, at home to Bashley on Saturday.

Fuller added: “He’s a big lad and if he imposes himself he can be a menace at this level.”

Banbury are without Josh Cole (foot injury) and Ben Polk (hand), while Glenn Walker (hand) will have a late test.

Oxford City boss Mike Ford says complacency will not be tolerated when they host basement boys Cirencester Town.

Although the visitors are two points adrift at the foot of the table, Ford is taking no chances.

“You can see they are bottom, but Hitchin made it difficult for us when they came here (it ended 0-0),” said Ford.

“They are in a position we were in last season and they will be fighting for their lives.

“If we are not at our best and take our eye off the ball, it will be very difficult.

“From my point of view, there is no complacency. There were a few signs of that on Tuesday (they beat North Leigh 1-0 in the Red Insure Cup), which surprised me and that will be addressed.”

Darren Pond, Michael Lyon (both banned) and keeper Jason Mooney (leg injury) miss out, though Wayne Blossom is back from suspension and Liam Malone from injury.

Abingdon United boss Richie Bourne has called up Joe Parker in a bid to end a four-match Division 1 South & West scoring drought away at Cinderford Town.

“Joe’s been banging in goals for the reserves,” said Bourne.

“ He was their top-scorer last season and has started this one in a similar vein.”

Abingdon are without Jack Smith (suspended) and Sam Packer (ankle), while Michael Buck (ankle) is a doubt.

John Mills returns from a hamstring injury when North Leigh entertain Yate.

Boss Mark Gee said: “Mills did his warm-ups before the Oxford City game and Andy Caton got in 90 minutes after his hamstring injury.

“We have a few games now where it would be nice to get maximum points.”
