Banbury United manager Ady Fuller says his side have the perfect incentive to finish the job when they face Wealdstone in tonight’s FA Carlsberg Trophy third-qualifying round replay.

A win at Wealdstone’s adopted Grosvenor Ground in Ruislip would see them host Division 1 Central side Uxbridge.

Saturday’s first game at Spencer Stadium ended in a goalless draw.

“I think it was probably a fair result,” said Fuller. “Though I thought we edged the play.

“It was disappointing that we could not win it at home, but at least we are still in the competition.

“Uxbridge at home is a massive incentive to go and win the game down there.

“In the draw, you either want some one lower down the pyramid or one of the bigger teams to generate some money.

“It’s a good draw, but we have to get through this game first.

“I haven’t played there, but Paul Lamb (Fuller’s assistant) has and he says it’s a lovely playing surface, so it should suit our style of play.”

However, they may have to do it without midfielder Glenn Walker who broke a hand after falling awkwardly in Saturday’s game.

So he may have to play in a cast, but Aaron Woodley (thigh) and Josh Cole (foot) should recover.

Didcot Town have been rewarded for Saturday’s shock 3-1 win at Bromley with a first-round home tie against Blue Square Bet side Basingstoke on Saturday, December 10.

Didcot’s FA Trophy run has so far generated £11,200 and victory in the next round would add £5,000 to the coffers.

Didcot return to league action tonight when they host Bridgwater Town.

Meanwhile, Oxford City boss Mike Ford says his players can stake a claim for a starting berth in Saturday’s Premier Division clash with Cirencester Town when they host North Leigh in the Red Insure Cup second-round.

Ford said: “We haven’t trained since being knocked out of the FA Cup by Redbridge last Tuesday and hopefully, it’s given people a chance to recharge their batteries.

“We were very flat mentally that night and couldn’t get out of second gear. I think the FA Cup caught up with us.

“But we got to the first round for the second time in three seasons and had a fantastic run.

“I don’t think we have played well for our last three games, so we need to get back on track.

“Darren Pond and Michael Lyon are suspended this weekend, so that’s the carrot for the players – to try and get a place in Saturday’s team.”

Ford expects Division 1 South & West side North Leigh to be tough.

He added: “Mark Gee has done a great job there. They try to play football the right way and had a good win on Saturday, so we’re under no illusions.

“I want to get my lads to play with a bit of confidence.”

City will be at full strength.
