Banbury’s woes continued at the bottom of the Men's South League Premier Division 1 as they went down 4-0 at home to Sevenoaks and finished the game with just seven men.

The Kent side picked holes in the Banbury defence, throwing aerial passes over the top of the forward and midfield line.

They opened the scoring after a good passing move and a deflated Banbury side did not react well, conceding another goal from a short corner before half-time.

Stern words from coaches Stuart Armstrong and Matt Bull saw Banbury applying more pressure in the second half, creating chances through Steve O’Connor.

But they conceded a third goal from a short corner to end their revival and frustration set in after they went 4-0 down.

Josh Nunneley was shown a yellow card for a bad tackle, followed soon afterwards by Richard Foreman when he was deemed to have kicked the ball intentionally.

This led to Stuart Armstrong and Tom Slay being shown yellow cards for dissent as Banbury left the pitch embarrassed and disgraced.

Two goals from Charlie Ellison helped Oxford Hawks to a 3-1 win over lowly Maidstone in Premier 1.

His first came after five minutes, converting a short corner with a powerful drag flick.

Maidstone held out until half-time, but were soon trailing 2-0 after Ted Bennett’s cross was deflected into the net off the defender’s stick.

Ellison’s second of the game, a drag flick from a short corner, wrapped up the points before Maidstone netted a consolation.

Dan Smyth was Oxford’s hero in their Regional Divison 1 local derby with Oxford Hawks 2nd.

He bagged a four-timer as they ran out 5-1 victors, Callum McKenzie also on the mark.

It moves Oxford up to third in the table, a point behind the leaders.

Justin Peel and Jacob Deacon were on the mark as Witney won 2-1 at Aylesbury to go joint third in Regional Division 2.
