Kennington’s Steven Sheard narrowly missed out on taking the world singles title in Jersey after losing on aggregate to England No 1 Kevin Tunstall, from Sussex, writes Pete Ewins.
Sheard took the first leg 9,860-2,850 and looked on course for an upset.
However, a fine recovery in the second leg saw Tunstall, with the break, reply with 11,680.
And that was enough to give the Sussex man the title for the fourth time, with the aggregate score finishing at 14,530-10,010.
Democrats produced a good team display to win their rearranged Scotland Ash Cup 4-1 at home to Vikings B.
Billy Hill (7,040), Terry Green (3,150), John Patey (8,250) and Bob Parsons were all on song to secure the victory.
