BACK-to-back victories for the Oxford Stealers have given them the early initiative in the Oxford League.

After a 107-54 win over a young Blazers team, the Stealers had to work harder at Brize Norton.

They trailed by ten points early on, and only pulled away in the final quarter to take the game 83-68 with excellent long-range shooting from Mason Poore giving him a points tally of 29.

Brize Norton also faded in their first game at home to Witney, but just held on to win 62-58 after being 24 points ahead at one stage.

Title holders Oxford Hoops Sonics opened their campaign with a 106-45 victory over Thame Tigers, Jimmie Massie scoring 26 points.

Hoops entertain Gloster Jets tomorrow (Sunday) at 5pm at St Gregory the Great School.
