Bridgwater Tn 1
(Pearse 58)
Abingdon Utd 1
(Collier 49)
Abingdon United made it three games without defeat with a well-deserved point at Bridgwater Town in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West.
Bridgwater created the first chance when goalkeeper James Foster turned away Danny Wring’s low drive.
Abingdon then took charge, and Ricky Allaway’s goalbound volley was headed away by Craig Mawford.
Abingdon opened the scoring in the 49th minute. Aaron Parfitt’s quick free-kick caught the Bridgwater defence asleep, and Sam Collier glided the ball past the advancing Sam Hutchings.
Bridgwater equalised in the 58th minute when Dave Pearse crashed the ball into the top corner.
Foster saved well to deny Matt Townley, Pete Knox and Pearse, while Collier almost snatched victory for Abingdon at the death.
Abingdon Utd: J Foster, Buck, Allaway, Carnell, Kingsbeer (Young 82), Angell, Doyle, Biddle, Collier, Packer (Evans 82), Parfitt (Smith 78). Attendance: 151.
