OXFORD will benefit from another good initiative from BAGS racing after they announced a £150,000 inter-track competition.

This follows on from their summer promotion that saw tracks stage BAGS sweepstakes with £500 to the winner.

Competition gets under way on November 11 and Oxford will compete in the Midlands group against Monmore, Yarmouth, Swindon, Hall Green and Perry Barr.

The other groups are North and South. Oxford will stage their heat on Friday, November 18.

There will be six events per leg including a sprint, four standard races and a stayers contest and the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) will conduct the race draws.

Once the qualifying meetings have been run, the two top teams from each region will meet in the grand final at Monmore on Friday, December 23.

The competition is for open race maidens that who run at least five graded races. Each team will receive £1,000 for travelling expenses.

Race winners earn ten points, with the remaining places divided up seven, five, three, two and one.

Each race is worth £200 to the winner, with £100 for the runner-up and £75 for others.

Winning regional teams will get £3,000, runners-up £1,000 and others £500.

Winners in the final will receive £500, runner-up £200 and others £100. The overall winning track will get £6,000, the runner-up £4,000 and others £2,500.

The winners will also receive an additional £12,500 as graded prize money throughout January, while the beaten finalists will receive £5,000.

  • ALTHOUGH the kennel strength is improving but not yet up to the required amount, it is likely that December will feature ten-race cards because of the extra Friday meetings laid on.
  • THERE is likely to be a new greyhound channel on TV.

The William Hill site closed two years ago, but now the Racing Post are reported to be producing a programme that will feature live racing on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
