A goal at the death earned Oxford Hawks a thrilling 3-3 draw at home to Lewes in the men's South League Premier Division 2 on Saturday.

Hawks applied all the pressure in the first half, but went in at half-time 2-0 down.

And it got worse after the break when the visitors added a third after Charlie Ellison was adjudged to have deliberately stick-tackled in the D. He spent five minutes on the bench with a yellow card.

Hawks hit back with ten minutes left, James Ward scoring via a deflection, and plenty of chances went begging before Craig Larner made it 3-2.

Hawks then threw away the manual and adopted the old Wimbeldon FC tactics of long ball down the middle.

A short corner was awarded and with the last play of the game, Ellison’s shot hit a defender’s stick and looped over the stranded keeper for a dramatic equaliser.

Oxford were pipped 4-3 at Eastcote in Regional 1.

They went ahead in the first half through Dan Smyth from a short corner, Eastcote quickly levelling, which proved the pattern of the game.

Andy Wynd and Smyth added further Oxford goals, but Eastcote replied each time and snatched victory in the closing stages.

Witney got their first taste of defeat in Regional Division 2, going down 4-1 at Staines 2nd. Jacob Deacon netted their goal.
