Chinnor got out of jail in dramatic style to sneak a 20-19 victory in National 3 South West at Exmouth.

A last-minute try from centre Sam Stoop completed Chinnor’s fightback from 19-5 down as they maintained their 100 per cent record.

Chinnor should have scored two early tries after incisive breaks from Stoop, while fly half James Cathcart missed a penalty.

Instead, on 23 minutes, some weak tackling allowed Ex-mouth’s Tom Kill in for an easy try.

A far more clinical move ended with Chinnor full back Richard Williams going over for the equaliser.

Exmouth regained the lead on 53 minutes when their impressive scrum half Adam Garner ran through following a ruck on the 22, George Meadows converting.

Five minutes later, Garner repeated the trick and Meadows added the extras.

With 20 minutes left, Chinnor awoke from their slumber as Matt Goode set up a try, finished by flanker Nick Harrison, who ghosted in for Cathcart to convert.

Cathcart added a penalty, but it took until the final minute to breach the home defence.

Stoop pounced on a loose ball and sprinted down the line to leave Exmouth devastated.

Oxford Harlequins dropped back into the relegation zone after a 31-13 home defeat to Old Patesians.

Quins are now theree points from safety following Amersham & Chiltern’s victory over Bridgwater.

Old Pats opened the scoring with an 11th-minute penalty from left wing Bruce Crowley.

Quins went close with a 50-metre run from No 8 Julian Watkins, but Crowley slotted a second penalty.

It was 11-0 at half-time after a try from fly half Matt Dean.

With the wind behind them, Quins fly half Alex Stevenson reduced the arrears with a 40-metre drop goal.

Dean’s second and third tries, plus a penalty and conversion from Crowley, made it 26-3.

Quins replacement, debutant Jordan Brodley, was yellow-carded on 61 minutes before Old Pats No 8 Henry Tapsell drove over for a try.

The hosts belatedly woke up, with lock Will Clayton bursting through several tackles to notch his first Quins try.

Wing Harry Burn then sent replacement Jack Cousins over for a second try, but Quins have it all to do.
